FDA Approves LEQEMBI® IQLIK™ (lecanemab-irmb) Subcutaneous Injection for Maintenance Dosing for the Treatment of Early Alzheimer’s Disease

A recent FDA approval for the subcutaneous (SQ) version for Leqembi will provide patients with Alzheimer’s disease a more flexible treatment option. Leqembi targets the amyloid beta-directed antibody, and prior to this approval, this class of medications has only been available as an intravenous (IV) treatment.  While patients still need to start their treatment using the IV product, once they have been stabilized for 18 months, the transition to the SQ dosing can occur and allow for convenient at-home dosing. The SQ product was shown in clinical studies to have similar outcomes for patients in terms of treatment success and side effects. In addition, the SQ dosing will reduce the time and cost of administering this medication at an infusion center.

This Year’s Flu Shot: Guidelines and New At-Home Option

Influenza season is once again upon us, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have updated their guidelines for this year. It is recommended that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu vaccine to reduce the risk of severe complications and death that this virus can cause. The products offered this season will be similar to the 2024-2025 options with the addition of FluMist that can be shipped to a patient’s home. The version of FluMist that has traditionally been offered through healthcare providers will also still be available. The cost of the at-home FluMist will offered at a higher price point than the product available through the healthcare provider.

Walking for Every Heartbeat: RxConnection Supports CHD Research

RxConnection’s own Christina Hollis-Sabol and her family recently participated in the annual Congenital Heart Walk in Cleveland, supporting the Children’s Heart Foundation in its mission to advance research for congenital heart disease (CHD)—a condition that affects 1 in every 100 babies.

Christina’s team, “Greta Girl,” raised $1,060 toward the cause, contributing to the Cleveland Walk’s impressive total of over $260,000 raised for CHD research. Their efforts help fund critical breakthroughs that improve survival rates and support children and families affected by congenital heart defects.

The Congenital Heart Walk series is a nationwide, family-friendly initiative that brings communities together to create hope for every heartbeat. Whether walking in honor of a Heart Warrior, in memory of a loved one, or simply to support the cause, participants are helping to transform the future of CHD care.

You can be part of this powerful movement. Every step taken helps fund research that saves lives and gives children born with CHD the chance to lead fuller, healthier lives.

Join a walk near you and stand with us in support of every heartbeat.
